The main The Rain and the Sidewalk site was down the last time I checked.
There are some songs from the Inanimate CD at the New Music Canada site
And we finally caved in to peer pressure and set up a MicePace page.
What
Based in Vancouver, BC, The Rain and the Sidewalk (formerly known as Introvert, until it turned out that there were several other Introverts out there already) creates moody, semi-electronic, post-post-punk art-pop.
Iniatially a solo project based on the talents of Trevor Michael Thompson (with Desert Rose supplying most of the vocals on the ever-forthcoming CD, Inanimate), recent live performances have been featuring the line-up of Shannon Hallett (vocals), Wayde Compton (bass, guitar, keyboard, vocals, and on occassion, turntables), and Trevor (that overrated yet awesome guy from The Rain and the Sidewalk).
TRATS has received such disturbingly gushing praise as
(from Terminal City weekly):
"...the only guy I know that can actually pull off the Joy Division thing, and he doesn't wear crappy girl clothes like all the other bands along that vein..." John Cow, Eye In The Sky, Jan 16-22 2004
"...the Rain and the Sidewalk is fucking brilliant and eccentric the way no one else really is..." Jenn Wong, Eye In The Sky, April 23-29 2004
"...The Rain and the Sidewalk...fell down on the floor..." Jenn Wong, Eye In The Sky, April 30-May 6 2004
(from Discorder):
"...the guy simply could not sing. His voice was truly atrocious..."
"...His songs were really quite good, and the lyrics were intelligent and darkly humorous..." Steve Tannock, real live action, October 2003
"...I felt like I was listening to the cure, but with worse hair. Although it was an extremely entertaining live show...songs began to sound a bit repetitive, or maybe that was just their lyrical focus on 'worthlessness' and 'unworthiness'..." Sofia Japan, Real Live Action, May '04
